Hard Times

I thought these scriptures would be good to start off this blog with because you can always use them to help yourself or someone else get through a hard time. I loved to share them on my mission and I still go to them when I am struggling with anything.

(2 Corinthians 4:17-18; 5:7)

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal...For we walk by faith, not by sight.

When I think about these scriptures I imagine myself alone in a dark forest with a heavy mist that makes it hard to see. But behind those trees, if I strain my eyes hard enough, a bright light can be seen. It is easy to get stuck on how dark and lonely the forest is around you without noticing how bright the light is that stands just outside the trees. That light is the personal growth and joy that is achieved by making it through those trials by relying on Christ.

Trials are good for us and sometimes God gives them to us in order for us to grow and gain a better perspective on life and eternity. They also show trials are for only a short period of time and they will soon be over. It is through faith in Jesus that gets me through those hard times. I know that he will be by my side in everything, if I allow Him. Through trials I have come to know my Savior as well as myself. What a blessing those hard times can be. I am always eager to see in what ways God needs me to grow.
